Bangalore To Sri Sailam (Mallikarjun Joytirling)
2 - 3 Days Trips

Soon i'll upload the pics.

Hello all,
I am writing about my latest trip to Srisailam: Mallikarjun Swamy Jyotirling from Bangalore, with a hope that it will prove useful for all other devotee travelers for this 1-2 day yatra. Srisailam is a scenic spot located around 540-550 km from Bangalore.

Pre Planning -
- Budget
- No. of People (Family/Friends/Lone Traveler)
- Travel Time
- Mode of Travel
- Most importantly hotel booking.

Starting from Bangalore, there are two ways to travel to Srisailam:

1.)  By Buss :- APSRTC bus from Majestic, starts at 6:45 PM from Bangalore and reaching Srisailam early in the morning around 8:30AM. The same bus starts from Srisailam running from 4:30PM on wards reaching back by 6:30AM. The journey looks fairly simple, giving you good 8 hrs in Srisailam, if you are booking the bus back on the same day as that of reaching Srisailam. The bus fare will be around (740+750) approx for two way trip. You can book the bus with this link: http://www.apsrtconline.in

2.) By Train :- (which i choose coz)
Markapur road (MKR) is the nearest railway station and it is located around 85-90 km from Srisailam.
its the shortest route from bangalore You need to book advance ticket as only few train are available.

If the train timing are not suitable for you, you can go via kurnool city.

I traveled from 18464 - Prashanti Exp starts at 2PM and reaches to Markapur Road at 1:30 Am approx.
Once you reach you will easily get the Auto outside the station. it will charge 100/- rs from station to
to the Hotel Vihari Grand IN  (its a very good hotel), you can call them and book a room as per the requirement. Hotel in Markapur wont charge any money for advance money. Also they arranged cab to travel to sri sailam.
Hotel charges for 24 Hrs
1000/- Non A/c per room
1200/- A/c per room

Coming to Markapur, which is a fairly decent town with lodges/small businesses and has a healthy mix of people from various religions. The town also has a temple of Lord Lakshmi Chennekeshva temple in its heart with huge Gopurams.

The shared auto will then leave you at Markapur Bus Stand from where you can easily get Public Buses to Srisailam. The cost of the bus ticket will depend from Rs 60-100, depending on the type of the bus for a distance of 80-85km. On the way, there is a beautiful Lord Ayappa Swamy temple also. The bus will easily take around 2.5-3hrs to travel, with 40km uphill travel, without much hairpin bends.

I booked the Scorpio in 3500/- for my complete trip and at 9 AM and reached Markapur to 11 AM
It is advisable to keep all your stuff in the dormitory lockers, and go for darshan, though while going for darshand there are also additional and separate places to keep Bags/Phones/Shoes for a minimal. It is also advisable for family travelers, to pre-book rooms/lodges.Have a bath, dress up (traditional because sometime they wont allow you to enter in the temple), have quick lunch and stand in ques for darshan.

I started in the 150/- rs  que. it takes around 1.5 hr.

The Shivalinga radiates energy and it feels like the lord is actually watching you. It is indeed a heavenly experience. After darshan, you move again in que to Barahmbha Devi temple, located at the back side of Sanctum Sanctorum. Have a darshan of mother goddess and you move out of the temple exit near you can found the prasad counter, if you wants to buy. Collect your stuff then you can go for Lunch nearby there is a very good Pure Veg Restaurant name - Trishul Family Restaurant. After lunch you can go for a little sightseeing specially for Boating/Ropeway in the dam site.

Srisailam sits on a mountain, drained by Krishna river called as Patalganga locally and it also divides the states of AP and Telangana. It is here that there is dam built and you can enjoy ropeway/boating for Rs60/50 each. There is another speedboat available for Rs 300. Please note that ropeway closes at 6PM, so plan accordingly.

After a day full of the above adventures. I headed back to my Hotel in Markapur
Now you can prefer the Train as per availability
Prasanthi Express at around 10:55PM for heading back to Bangalore, which reaches by around 11:30-12noon in Bangalore.
or
BZA BNC Passenger at around 1:30 AM, which reaches by around 4:30 PM but unfortunately it reached channasandra railway station at 10:30 PM

Hope this Blog helps you to visit.
